Financial markets don’t need to be told that 2026 is a year of the Fire Horse. Starting sometime in February, this year will be a year, of “energy, passion, ambition and transformation” according to the Chinese Zodiac that assigns animals to the Lunar New Year. For me, it will be an even more special year, since the last year of the Fire Horse was in 1966, the year I was born, and most likely I will not be around in organic form for the next one in 2086, since the cycle only repeats once every 60 years. . Turning 60 this year for me will thus be mixed – on the one hand I feel lucky to be alive in a time and world of opportunity, have no health issues, and am still training for and running ultramarathons.
